Selected berries and a unique content of Ribetril A


Redcurrants and blackcurrants are specially concentrated sources of polyphenols with a more varied composition than many other berries.
Asiros has discovered a totally unique polyphenol in redcurrants and blackcurrants, Ribetril A.
As the content of both Ribetril A and polyphenols varies a lot in different varieties of redcurrants and blackcurrants, ASIROS required to select the right variety of redcurrant and blackcurrant.
After years of research ASIROS capable of selecting special blackcurrant and redcurrant varieties with a particularly high content of polyphenols and the unique content of Ribetril A.
Mitoceps contains a special concentrate of these particular varieties of berries with a unique content of Ribetril A and a very concentrated amount of polyphenols.

 
What are polyphenols?
Polyphenols are small, bioactive substances found in fruits and vegetables. The plants use them as protective agents against UV radiation and defence against viral and fungal attacks, and they have attractive colors and tastes that are important to attract animals and birds that eat the berries and spread the seeds.
There are several thousand different polyphenols, and there are great differences in their effect, amount and variation in different fruits and vegetables. Berries, for example, contain especially large amounts and variations of polyphenols.
Polyphenols are traditionally subdivided into phenolic acids, flavonoids, including anthocyanins that provide color, tannins, lignans and stilbenes.
Redcurrants and blackcurrants contain particularly large amounts as well as many kinds of polyphenols which provide redcurrants and blackcurrants with their bitter, strong taste and beautiful color.
Where are polyphenols found?
A large number of fruits contains many polyphenols, e.g. blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, citrus fruits, blue grapes, cherries, apples, dark plums, blackberries, redcurrants and blackcurrants.
There are also varying amounts of polyphenols in vegetables, tea, coffee, dark chocolate, nuts and grain.
It is important to know that polyphenols are much more than just the coloring agent in fruits and vegetables. Many of the specially active polyphenols are flavoring agents and bitter substances which give fruits and vegetables their characteristic taste profile.
Are polyphenols healthy?
According to WHO, fruits and vegetables are important components of a healthy diet. According to WHO, fruits and vegetables may contribute significantly to furthering public health and reducing the extent of lifestyle diseases if they are consumed daily in sufficient amounts. Many of the health effects that are linked to fruits and vegetables are ascribed to polyphenols.
Polyphenols have been linked to positive effects on the cardio-vascular system, carbohydrate and energy metabolism, inflammatory conditions and the defence against viruses.
Large population studies have been made of the amount of polyphenols in our daily diet, and where they come from. However, a large part of these polyphenols come from a few sources such as coffee and cereals.
A lot has been written about antioxidants and how healthy they are, and many polyphenols are indeed antioxidants.
However, recent research points to the fact that the health effects from polyphenols go far beyond their function as antioxidants, and that they regulate essential enzyme functions and affect important signal paths in the cells, which explains many of the health-promoting effects linked to polyphenols.
